Social Studies 3 A/B

Segment A of Social Studies 3 teaches students that Social Studies, which includes history, geography, economics, sociology, and government, is important because it is the key to understanding our world today. Geographical locations impact culture, economic interdependence, and settlement patterns. Groups that have influenced world history had diverse customs, cultures, beliefs, traditions, and social practices. History demonstrates the diverse cultural heritage of many peoples throughout the world.

Segment B of Social Studies 3 briefly reviews the history of our country, but quickly moves on to the study of the strong immigrant population which made our country great. Students will study the documents, symbols, and artifacts of our history which shaped the ideals we still hold dear today. They will also study and learn to classify different types of communities and groups, understanding that these groups have influenced world history, and had diverse customs, cultures, beliefs, traditions, and social practices. History demonstrates the diverse cultural heritage of many peoples throughout the world.
